How many times throughout the day do we stumble upon something that is so utterly important (or life changing in some cases) that it causes us to pause and say “Memo to self”?

If you’re like me then that probably happens quite often. Some of my “Memos to self” have included line items such as:

•	Memo to self- take more time to pray
•	Memo to self- sign up for the next race
•	Memo to self- call other sister to check on flight plans

The only problem with this is that it is actually only a mental “Memo to self” note and with all the chaos the days bring ~yes even the unemployed have chaotic days~ I tend to forget all about the mental memo.

The cure

I recently took on the role of being my own executive assistant. Meaning I plan and manage my time as a true gate keeper would. Using executive assistant techniques really cuts down on time wasting distraction.

A really great idea that I got from reading an article on Inc.com was from <a href="http://www.inc.com/ss/15-ways-be-more-productive#3"target="new">Danny Meyer. He has his executive assistant email him a daily memo at the end of the day. The memo he receives from his EA contains items specific to his business such as his next days schedule, questions and ideas that came up during the day. The memo also includes items that need to get done in his personal life as well.

I’ve been sending myself a daily “Memo to self” since the beginning of the month and although it has only been nine days, I can honestly say it has made a big difference. I am more focused at the start of the day because everything is outlined and planned. Plus, because I have written it prior to shutting down the PC for the night, there is no need to worry about it during evening quiet time or more importantly when I am sleeping.

My Written “Memo to self” includes

•	daily to-do-list: exercise, plan dinner, craft, and pick-up kiddos etc
•	list 10-15 blogs to read and comment on
•	create a blog post rough drafts and write eHows
•	answer emails and return phone calls
•	create back link opportunities

The memos aren’t long and drawn out, they are quick and simple bullet points for what needs to get accomplished during the day. It sits on my keyboard and is the first thing I read when I sit down. No more to-do-list building first thing in the morning, because that just leads to 30-40 minutes of wasted time.

Also, if there is no work that needs to be done online then, get up and go outside, phone a friend, read a book or take a nap. Don’t sit in front of the PC if you don’t plan to be productive.

What are your thoughts? Do your days tend to get a bit chaotic? What techniques do you use to keep yourself organized and on top of things. Please share in the comments.

When I had mentioned in one of my previous post that my plan for some of my jewel encrusted mirrors was to post them up on eBay, I had no idea my mother would chime in with an even better idea and opportunity.

I was speaking with Mummzy on the phone the other day, and we were chatting about the mirrors for my nieces when she mentioned that I should put them on Etsy.com. Now, I’ve heard of Etsy.com before, but didn’t think to put my little projects on there with all the other seasoned, expert crafters. But it makes perfect sense, after all Etsy.com was created by crafters for crafters. It is a place for crafters to showcase their creation and to market them for sale.

Etsy.com charges .20 USD for each item listed and a 3.5% transaction fee when an item is sold. The listing fees can be paid through Paypal.com, which is a plus.

So, I’m spending Sunday afternoon, creating more craft pieces, taking photos, and writing descriptions for each etc. I am researching price points too. Judging from what I see so far, there are only a few individuals selling something similar to what I will be.

Who knew! A sixty something retired bio-chemist would be up on her online product marketing knowledge. You rock Mummzy!

Now, here is where I need y’alls input.

A quick contest!
What should my Etsy.com user-name be? Any and all suggestions are welcome and no idea is a bad idea. Really brainstorm for me.

What’s in it for you?
If I select your idea for my Etsy.com user-name then I will make and send you your own personalized mini-jeweled mirror. The mirrors are perfect for gifts, keepsakes and such. Mother’s Day is right around the corner….hint hint.

I know it and you have witnessed it.

Although I am pretty well set financially-for the short term- the added stress that unemployment presents has posed a bit is a creative hindrance. My goals have not changed as I’m still working towards financial independence via blogging and making money online. But, the need to make it happen sooner than later is, well quite frankly stressful.

And, in all actuality my motivation has not diminished it is my inspiration that has waned over the last few weeks.

My inspiration is to make money via multiple passive revenue streams that don’t involve this blog. I lost sight of that along the way and have begun the process of refocusing my efforts where they belong. It has been a time of refocus and reflection on creating my own product, establishing my off line business and earning passive income from as many online outlets as possible.

I am currently reading a book by a highly respected life coach. The book is titled How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. It teaches how to get on with life and not worry about the small stuff and more importantly not to let it hold you back from living and realizing life goals.

DISCOVER HOW TO:
• Eliminate fifty percent of business worries immediately
• Reduce financial worries
• Avoid fatigue — and keep looking young
• Add one hour a day to your waking life
• Find yourself and be yourself — remember there is no one else on earth like you

If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed or loss for motivation and inspiration then I recommend you read this book too.
