Get Paid Writing for eHow
So this morning I logged into my PayPal account because I needed to do some account maintenance. And lo and behold there was some unexpected money in it!
I received a payment from eHow.com. No, it’s not much cash-olla, but it was a very welcome surprise none the less. I had seen the totals on my eHow earnings page, but I wasn’t sure when I was going to get the dough. Even though they clearly state, if you have accrued $10 or more in earnings at the end of a given month, your scheduled payout will be in the following month.
Now although it wasn’t A LOT of money, I can definitely see the potential in this passive income source? Heck all I did was write 27 or so ‘How to’ articles, folks read them and hopefully click on the ads that are embedded in them and voila, I get paid.
The most popular and highest paying article so far is How to Watch a Football Game at Home. I know!…. I wrote it because of the new stadium opening here-I’m sure you have heard of ‘Jerry’s World’-home of the Dallas Cowboys. Well let’s just say the ticket prices there keep even the most enthusiastic fan from watching a live stadium game. So I documented a typical game watching experience for me on any given Sunday. And it is paying off.
My goal for eHow is to publish one article per day for the month of February, increasing my total article count to around fifty-five or so. And so on….
Now, finding topics that you can actually write ‘How To’ steps for can be a challenge. And just when you think you are the only one to come up with and article title, the wizard will kick it back. So you need to be creative in your titles and the way you word them. That’s why I keep a note pad handy for whenever I come up with a usable ‘How to’ idea.
As you can see from viewing my eHow profile my topics are all over the place. I suppose you could stick to one particular niche, but for me it is easier and more fun to use a hodge podge of topics.
What do you think? Is eHow a program of interest to you? Are you already published on eHow.com? If so how is it working for you?

Hi
It sounds like an interesting site but the cynic in me can’t help think there must be a better way to get your true value paid to you. I played with ciao a few years back but came to conclude that the time in wasn’t equal to monetary value out. I hope that the payment with this is more fair because otherwise it sounds like slave labour.
Out of interest, who has the rights to the articles you submit? If it remains with you then it’s not so bad. Otherwise, maybe writing for your own site would pay better in the long term?

Hi Eleanor,
The pay out at the moment it not that grand and no I give up the rights to the articles. eHow, for me at least , is not a sole source of revenue. eHow is a piece of the overall pie, and a place for me to practice my writing. No, its not for everyone, but I definitely recommend it.
