I’ve Got Nothing: The Crowdsourced YouTube Video & iTunes Song
You’ve heard of Outsourced right? Well this song and video have been Crowndsourced.
This is an awesome example of one What a good viral video consists of and two The importance of developing collaborative relationships on the internet. It shows the importance of working within a community, utilizing all the talents and skills around you to achieve a goal.
Charlie McDonnell from the UK and three of his internet friends have created a song with the help of one of the worlds largest crowds. They had nothing to start with, no money, no producer, no studio not even musicians.
They simply reached out to the YouTube community. After 10 months of hard work and collaboration, the team was able to piece together hundreds of YouTuber submissions to create this song appropriately titled “I’ve Got Nothing”. What’s better yet is “I’ve Got Nothing” is available on ITunes and the proceeds will go to children in need.

Can’t say I have created a viral video (yet) and this is a perfect example of the power of a good network one can build. Amazing and at the same time, a very wonderful deed.

Anyway, IMO trying to create something viral is really tough. Many of the top viral tactics were accidents, like the wedding aisle dance that made it to The Office episode.
