What’s In Your Blogging Environment?
Do you blog at a desk, on the sofa, in a lounge chair on the patio? Where do you blog? At home, office, internet café or on the beach? What do you listen to whilst blogging? Is the TV running or are you listening to your favorite CD or Ipod Tunes?
I know that’s an awful lot of questions right off the bat, but I really want to know how blogging zones vary from one blogger to another.
Normally I am either sitting at my desk where I have multi-screens, three to be exact. I love having the ability to move websites, Word docs, WordPress Admin, Blog Previews around on the screens, without have to click a bunch of different browser tabs.
I also blog from home via laptop while channel surfing on the sofa, but I find I don’t get much done though so I’ll move to the dinning table or lock myself in my home office. In the crazy event that my internet conks out I will go to my local coffee spot and use their free WiFi, but that usually turns into a big time waster because I tend to do more web browsing and people watching then writing.
People watching can spark great ideas for blog posts too, so I watch how the cashier and customers interact. Check out the surroundings to see if the business is running smoothly and geared towards customer satisfaction. Think about ways I would do it better or find really good take away ideas for my business.
Music keeps me motivated while blogging as well. Here’s a portion of my music playlist that I have on my Ipod:

Eeww narly, are you a dipper?
Almost the same as John here Ms Freeman, with the exception of the second cup, lol. I have my laptop and my broadband connection is mobile so I virtually can be anywhere. Most of the time, I’m hooked at the internet through my office at home and when I’m writing something for example, I do not listen to any music until I am done.

I sit in my “office” and use my laptop. The only time I have the TV on is if I’m doing some commercial research. Or watching the World Series – GO YANKEES

Most of the time I usually blog from my bedroom because it gives me the most time to think and I also avoid all the other possible distractions that might take place while I am writing. I usually try to write to blog posts a week to keep fresh content flowing on my blog

Hi Ms. Freeman,
I do all my blogging from my new home office. I moved into my new home this past weekend and one of the primary reasons for purchasing the home was to have my own office. I’m not quite as advanced as you are and I’m still working with one screen:-) Occasionally I like to listen to music but only when I’m surfing. By the way, I like your choices of music. When it comes to writing articles or composing emails, I really need quiet or I can’t concentrate.

Congrats on the new house!
Oh the multi screens are at work not my personal purchase. At home I only have my laptop.
I do almost all of my blogging from bed.

One the weekend I may occasionally blog from there, but I tend to nod off in mid sentence.
It depends on the season…is that weird?
We live in a 100+ year old Victorian and where I PREFER to write (the front parlor) STILL has original windows (but also really nifty stained glass windows) and gets super cold in the Winter.
SO, feeling displaced, I am now writing at the dining room table. I prefer absolute silence and occasionally wake up at 530 to get work done WITHOUT the constant noise of the kids! (though after birth of kid #2 7 weeks ago, I don’t even need to set the alarm for 530 anymore).
I don’t eat or drink while writing UNLESS it’s break time. I don’t want to get distracted and ruin my train of thought.

WOW! You are so disciplined up at the crack of dawn and no eating or music. I too am up that early, but I am running for fun or training for an event.
Congratulations on the new addition!
Computers: I have two 24″ screens for my blog PC and another laptop right next to me for additional testing.
Environment: I’m in an office with a big TV so I can watch SportsCenter when I blog at night.
Food/drink: Usually nothing to eat or drink with the exception of a big bag of gummy bears that’s always next to me.

Yum Gummy Bears!!!!! It sounds like your environment is perfect…huge screens and Sports Center. Who could ask for more!
I have a laptop and wifi so I can go any where but I mostly get on my bed. I don’t listen to music and I have no set time to write, whenever the muse hits me lol. I don’t eat while I write, but I’ll add music. I think it will motivate me to get stuff written down and done. Great post btw very interesting responses.

Sounds like you have a very relaxed blogging style and environment. It is always good to be hit by a Muse lol:)
As for me, I also have a limited space. I do blogging in my room, on my bed with my NEO laptop and a wired broadband connection.
