7 Ways To Be a Sinful Blogger

diamonds2Does your blog allow your readers to indulge in one the “Seven Deadly Sins”? Do your posts cause your readers to feel they ‘should be reading’. When really what you want is for them to feel they ‘must and can’t stop reading’.

Here are 7 Ways to be a Sinful Blogger

1. Write something that will bring out the Wrath in your readers. Be controversial, opinionated. Yes sometimes being rude even works. Go against the grain. We all want to make friends online, but don’t be afraid to ruffle some feather. Ruffle feathers and see who flies away, those were the ones that were hitching a ride and were weighing you down anyway.

2. We all seem to flock to those that demonstrate some sort of Greed. Either we want to emulate and be like them, or we look-on in amazement and disbelief at the audacity. Greed motivates people! We either want to share it, steal it or block others from having it. Posting stats and earnings are some of the most commented posts out there.

3. Every human being has a lazy bone in them, some want things handed to them with minimal to no work involved. Posting videos and images caters to the Sloth in all of us. Give away things for free. Run contests.

4. Readers like to see their name in lights it’s a matter of Pride. Raise your readers above the crowd. Take some time to acknowledge a reader in a post of their own. A link is nice, but to have your name in the title of another blogger’s post is the best-now that’s a big ego booster.

5. I asked a few weeks ago if sex sells. Lust is one of the hottest commodities since the dawn of man. Either you like that sex sells or you are on the other end and battle against the use of it. Never the less it is a hot topic of conversation and it drives the masses.

6. Readers want to read about success and triumph over defeat. Envy and the wanting to be just as successful keep readers coming back for the next tidbit of information and ideas. Provide timely, creative and original information on how you have become the success you are and your readers will peek in to see what’s next.

7. Providing your readers with more than they expected and in large portions will lead to Gluttony. Your readers will visit daily, subscribe to your RSS, newsletters, forums and whatever else you have to offer because they can’t get enough of the powerful posts you publish daily. In order for your readers to be hungry for what you write you have to maintain some sort of feeding schedule whether it’s daily, weekly or monthly, but they will need to know when they will be ‘fed’.

Figure out what your readers like to indulge in. I bet it’s sinful.
