How to Create a Facebook Fan Page

I believe we all have a personal Facebook page where we keep in touch with family and friends. Posted there we have pictures of kids, friends at parties, recipes, sports teams etc. We tell jokes, play games like Mafia Wars and we poke the heck out of each other.

But, the personal Facebook page is not really appropriate for business use, now is it? So, I am in the process of building a business fan page for Freeman Legacy LLC. And for the most part I have it built. But something doesn’t seem quite right or maybe it does and I just don’t get it. I’m hoping you can help me figure this out.

I have a page created and the badge is displayed in my sidebar. Problem is when you click on that link it will bring you to the fan page, that’s great. However, when I was setting up the page I had to create a personal page as well and all the updates seem to go to that page and are not viewable on the fan page. I was able to import the RSS Feed to the Notes tab of my personal Facebook page, but not to the fan page.

I’ve of course searched the net for video tutorials and found some really interesting videos. I’ve posted one of them below, but they really don’t address the issue I am having. At least I don’t think they are.

The next option I had was to attach the RSS Feed URL for this blog to a link on the Facebook fan page. We’ll have to wait and see how that works once I post this article. Stay tuned for an update.

UPDATE: The link did not work so, I searched Google again for ‘How to import a blog into a Facebook fan page’ and I found the most awesome person along with the small amount of info I had been looking for. I hope this helps someone else along the way.

Is setting up a Facebook fan page really this difficult? Or am I making it harder than it needs to be? Let me know how you did it and please as always drop your tips in the comment section.

At least setting up Twitter was much easier…more on that to follow shortly.

Great article. This is a good reminder for myself. I still haven’t done this yet. I have a few friends who say they’ve really gotten some nice traffic benefits from a fan page.

  2. Great post my friend. I’m glad you put this video up to because I just recently relized the power of having you own page on facebook rather than you personal page for business. I can tell I going to be spending some time in your blog. Thanks again.

I really needed an article like this a few weeks ago when I wanted to set up the Fan Pages for my two business’s. We ended up getting them setup, but I will be saving this for future reference.
